Our learning this week in Year 6
New country spotlight-please bring in facts about Bulgaria for our Europe wall!
English-a balanced argument
Year 6 have demonstrated excellent oracy skills this week, as we have discussed the advantages and disadvantages of a new housing development on a floodplain. They have used disucssion sentence stems and a set of clear reasons to put forward their arguments. This excellent discussion has now been transferred into a written piece as a balanced argument. Great work!
Maths-revision of key topics
This week we have revised: addition and subtraction; multiplication and division; fractions. We have used LBQ together with practice arithmetic and paired reasoning papers. The way the children collaborate over their learning is outstanding.
RE-ideas about God
Our topic this half-term allows us to delve into ideas about the nature of God. We began this topic by considering what evidence the scripture presents and how the 'character' of God is presented in different ways.
History-studying artefacts
We have been extremely lucky to have a set of artefacts from Early Islamic Civilisation to investigate. The children explored these different aretfacts and identified how they may have been used and also what clues they could give us about the culture of this civilisation.
