Welcome to our weekly Reception blog!
Dear Parents,
AWARDS
Well done to our award winners this week!

Phonics

The children have continued to enjoy the daily sessions and have been practising each new phoneme in their independent learning. Please keep sending in on Seesaw examples of the children practising their phonemes and graphemes at home. They have had the chance to practise forming the graphemes correctly. Please see the sheets for the new term in the files section below.
If you want to practise forming the graphemes using the rhymes for each one and playing games such as I spy to help consolidate this weeks learning. Any photos of this homework can be sent in via Seesaw.
Reading
Please remember to read regular with your child, this term especially is important as we delve deeper into their phonetic knowledge for building reading and comprehension skills.
Also please can you ensure only one key ring is hanging from your child's book bag. This will help us fit them in the class box. Thank you.
Please send into school the reading book and reading record book each day as we hear the children read aswell. We change the books twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. Books will only be changed if the reading record has been written in. If you have any questions please ask.
Maths

We have been focussing on representing 10 and finding different ways to build our understanding of the number. We have also been exploring one more to help us find the next number up to 10
Literacy.

This week we have started to read our new book 'Bears In The Night'. This has helped us focus on prepositional language. We have practised understanding the new language and applying it giving instructions to a partner.
Safety in PE
.jpg)
We would like to remind all parents that for the safety of all children and following guidance from Chorley SSP, jewellery is not to be worn during PE. This includes earrings, bracelets and watches. All children will be asked to remove their jewellery at the start of every PE lesson. This will ensure their own safety during the lesson and the safety of others. If a child is unable to take out their own earrings, adults in school will not be able to do it for them. This will mean they will have to take another role in the lesson such as observing, coaching or officiating.
For this reason, if your child is not confident taking out earrings, please do not put them in on our PE days. This year, our PE lessons are on Tuesday and Friday, however we may also have extra lessons on other days throughout the year.
Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.
PEOPLE WHO HELP US!

A huge thank you to the Police PCSO's who this week came into Reception to talk about their job! The children have loved hearing about their amazing job and very thankful for the stickers. We were all very excited to have you in class.
If you anyone else would like to share their job with the class please feel free to speak with me.
Santa Dash
The children have been so excited to take part in the Santa Dash. Well done to everyone and thank you for your kind donations.

Our adventures Continue!
Fabulous News! the children have all complete their road Safety Certificate and you should recieve then in their bags. A big thank you to Mrs Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford for their hard work completing the Road Safety course with the children.
We will be going on a little walk to post a surprise on Monday and on the 18th Dec we will be going to the library for christmas stories and activities.
Please still continue to remind the children of these safety steps.
· Think – is this the safest place to cross the road?
· Stop - with their feet back from the kerb, which gives them time to Look and Listen.
· Look - for any vehicles that might be coming on the road – remember, children of this age are unable to judge speed and distance.
· Listen - for vehicles. They may hear something before they can see it – remind them though, that electric cars make very little noise.
· Think again – have they followed the rules, and will they keep Looking and Listening the whole time they are crossing the road?
They have also been reminded to play in a safe place away from traffic and to wear or carry something bright so they can be seen at the roadside by other road users.
Rainbow Raffle
A big thank you to every one for their kind donations and support to the Red box. Please feel free to add items next week.
End of Day Routine

-
Children will only be allowed to go home with adults listed on the safeguarding form, unless school has been contacted to state otherwise.
-
Children will be dismissed one at a time. Please let the adult on the gate know who you are picking up and they will then call the child.
-
We kindly request that all children are dismissed prior to teachers/ Teaching Assistants being approached by parents.
-
Should any child need to come back into the classroom, we will allow them back into the room after all of the children have been dismissed.

For Christmas this year, school staff will be supporting Derian House and making a donation on behalf of each class. Derian House are a fantastic charity and one that means a lot to our school.
