Date: 10th May 2026 @ 10:00am

Welcome to Reception (1).png

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a busy week it has been.

We have visited the Church to continue our learning about 'Special Places'. We have also been on our trip to Smithills Farm. The children behaved really well on both trips and we all had a great time.

We have been taking part in Mental Health Awareness Week.

On Monday, the children were introduced to Mental Health Bingo during our class worship session. Throughout the week, they have been working hard to complete different activities and challenges to achieve a line or even a full house on their bingo boards.

Literacy:

We have continued reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

Jack and the Beanstalk (Leapfrog)

We sequenced the story using pictures and then wrote a sentence for each picture.

We have also been exploring outside!

This is in preparation for next half term when we will begin to use our developing forest school area.

Ms Lucas is doing the training next week to become a Forest School Leader!

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog.  Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. We are also looking carefully at forming our letters correctly in class. Please remind your child to say the rhyme for each letter to help them when they are writing at home.

We are sending home a sheet with all the tricky words on to keep practising!

Talk to your child about what makes each word tricky.

Show and Tell

Can children write sentences including the tricky words

are some what

They can read these to their friends during show and tell. Either send in on paper or a photograogh on Seesaw.

Reading Books

As we are now in the Summer term please can you try and spend a little time every night to listen to your child reading their reading book. This will really help them consolidate their phonic knowledge and practise recognising and reading tricky words. We change the reading books every Monday and Thursday.

Library Books

Library books will be coming home tonight.

Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.

Reminders

- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Friday).

- Please help your child to be as independent as possible when getting dressed/undressed for PE.

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named.

Have a lovely weekend,

From

Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
