Date: 2nd May 2025 @ 12:00pm

Dear parents,

Welcome to the Reception Friday blog!

Please see the class page for the curriculum overview.

Literacy:

We have continued learning about the characters and retold the story using the story sticks we have made.

Jack and the beanstalk (Leap frog lift-a-flap): Wendy Edelson ...

We have continued working with numbers to 20. We have rolled a dice then doubled the number and drawn the correct spots on a ladybird.

Road Safety:

We have started our Road Safety learning and we have practised walking safely with a partner, looking and listening and making sure we are always on the footpath not too near the curb.

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog.  Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound.

Please continue to practise all of the tricky words. Thank you!

Show and Tell

The children can bring something linked to VE Day to share with their friends.

Reading Books

As we are now in the Summer term please can you try and spend a little time every night to listen to your child reading their reading book. This will really help them consolidate their phonic knowledge and practise recognising and reading tricky words. We change the reading books every Monday and Thursday.

Library Books

Library books will be coming home tonight.

Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.

Reminders

- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

- Please help your child to be as independent as possible when getting dressed/undressed for PE.

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we still have a couple of cardigans missing!

- If your child needs to use lip balm could you please send it in in a named bag for the teachers to look after and oversee them putting it on.

- When the weather is hot please apply sun cream before school. Each child has a school sun hat and we continue to encourage them to drink lots of water.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend,

From

Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
