Literacy:

This week we have introduced the book 'Leaf Man'.

We went on an Autumn Walk to Ransnap Woods and used our senses to explore the seasonal changes. We collected leaves and back in school we made our own Leaf Man!

Maths:

We have been focusing on number 4 this week. We know that:

Three and another one is four.

Three and one is four.

Four is three and one.

Four is more than one/two/three.

One/two/threeis fewer than four .

We looked at ways to represent number 4 and created a square garden in Numberland.

We have also been practising our subitising skills with numbers up to 4.

Subitising is the ability to look at a small group of objects and instantly recognise how many there are without counting them one by one.

A good way to practise this at home is playing games that involve rolling a dice. Can your child recognise the number from the pattern of dots on the dice without counting each one?

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog.  Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. We are also looking carefully at forming our letters correctly in class. Please remind your child to say the rhyme for each letter to help them when they are writing at home.

We have sent home a book for each child with their named reading record in a clear reading pack. Please share this with your child and talk about the pictures and what could happen in the the story. Please sign the reading record book and share any comments for us to read. Please send the Reading Pack in each day and we will change the books on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Show and Tell

Following on from our work on Leaf Man this week can your child make a picture showing Leaf Man having a new adventure!

They can bring it in and show their friends and tell them about the adventure!

Jofli is an important member of our class and we sing his song each week on Friday afternoon before he chooses who he will go home with.
