Dear Parents,

Animated Welcome Back Gif

Literacy:

We have started our new topic of Spring in to Summer and our core text is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Jack and the beanstalk (Leap frog lift-a-flap): Wendy Edelson ...

We have read the story and copmpared it to other versions we have read. We talked about the main characters and wrote a description of Jack. We have also learnt the tricky word 'said' and thought about what Jack and the other characters said in the story, we wrote the words using our phonic knowledge in speech bubbles.

We have loved exploring our new reading area and acted out the story with story props!

Maths:

We have been counting up to 20 and finding ways to group smaller amounts to help us to count accurately. We have drawn amounts on leaves for the beanstalk and matched it to the correct numeral.

We have used our observation skills to look at Spring flowers and then draw and paint them.

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog.  Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound.

Please continue to practise all of the tricky words. Thank you!

Show and Tell

We will be looking at signs of Spring! The children can bring something linked to the season of Spring to share with their friends.

Reading Books

As we are now in the Summer term please can you try and spend a little time every night to listen to your child reading their reading book. This will really help them consolidate their phonic knowledge and practise recognising and reading tricky words. We change the reading books every Monday and Thursday.

Library Books

Library books will be coming home tonight.

Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.

Reminders

- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

- Please help your child to be as independent as possible when getting dressed/undressed for PE.

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we still have a couple of cardigans missing!

- If your child needs to use lip balm could you please send it in in a named bag for the teachers to look after and oversee them putting it on.

Have a lovely weekend,

From

Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
