Welcome to Reception (1).png

Welcome to our weekly Reception blog!

Dear Parents,

AWARDS

Let's see who will get them next term!

Phonics

We have completed our end of term assessments this week and consolidated and review of phase 3 sounds and tricky words we need help with.

Please can we practise with your child the tricky words and sounds Mrs Lucas will send home shortly.

Thank you.

Reading

Please remember to read regularly with your child. This term especially is important as we delve deeper into their phonetic knowledge for building reading and comprehension skills.

Also please can you ensure only one key ring is hanging from your child's book bag. This will help us fit them in the class box. Thank you.

Please send into school the reading book and reading record book each day as we hear the children read aswell. We change the books twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. Books will only be changed if the reading record has been written in. If you have any questions please ask.

Library Session

We have continued to attend the school library on a Friday morning. The children will have the opportunity to choose and take home a book to read over the weekend. This book must be returned on the Thursday so we can change it the following Friday.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION....

Please can we ask if you didn't return your child's book to send it in as soon as possible. A new book cannot be issued until returned.

Maths

We have been learning about our doubles to 10 this week. The children have really enjoyed using doubles in a creative way.

Literacy

This week we have explored and sequenced The Easter Story. We have reflected on what makes a good sentence and started to orally edit our writing to help us in future writing.

Safety in PE

We would like to remind all parents that for the safety of all children and following guidance from Chorley SSP, jewellery is not to be worn during PE. This includes earrings, bracelets and watches. All children will be asked to remove their jewellery at the start of every PE lesson. This will ensure their own safety during the lesson and the safety of others. If a child is unable to take out their own earrings, adults in school will not be able to do it for them. This will mean they will have to take another role in the lesson such as observing, coaching or officiating.

For this reason, if your child is not confident taking out earrings, please do not put them in on our PE days. This year, our PE lessons are on Monday and Friday, however we may also have extra lessons on other days throughout the year.

Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.

End of Day Routine

  • Children will only be allowed to go home with adults listed on the safeguarding form, unless school has been contacted to state otherwise.

  • Children will be dismissed one at a time. Please let the adult on the gate know who you are picking up and they will then call the child.

  • We kindly request that all children are dismissed prior to teachers/ Teaching Assistants being approached by parents.

  • Should any child need to come back into the classroom, we will allow them back into the room after all of the children have been dismissed.

Show and Tell!

Please go on a walk this weekend and encourage your child to write about what you have been up to over the holidays. Draw a picture and label it.

Please can we ask that children only bring in items/photos for show and tell based on what we have asked for on the blog.
