Phonics
The children are settling well to phase 3 phonic sounds and have enjoyed the learning the new sounds. Please keep sending in on Seesaw examples of the children practising their new sounds at home. They have had the chance to applying the new sounds in a word or as a part of a sentence.
Practise the sounds we have learnt this week.
Sounds: ai, ee,igh, oo, ar, or.
Tricky words: and, was, they, she, you.

Reading
Please remember to read regular with your child, this term especially is important as we delve deeper into their phonetic knowledge for building reading and comprehension skills.
Also please can you ensure only one key ring is hanging from your child's book bag. This will help us fit them in the class box. Thank you.
Please send into school the reading book and reading record book each day as we hear the children read aswell. We change the books twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. Books will only be changed if the reading record has been written in. If you have any questions please ask.

There has been some amazing reading happening thank you and the children have loved to see them. Take a photo of your child reading in the funniest of places. This will encourage the fun and excitement of bringing stories alive. I will then share them next week and in future with the children in class.

Library Session
We have continued to attend the school library on a Friday morning. The children will have the opportunity to choose and take home a book to read over the weekend. This book must be returned on the Thursday so we can change it the following Friday.
Please can we ask if you didn't return your child's book to send it in as soon as possible. A new book cannot be issued until returned.

Storytelling Week
Next week will be a fabulous opportunity to encourage and engage your child in reading for pleasure. Please see image for more information. Through the week different school members will be reading to different classes. I wonder who will be coming to Reception.

Safety in PE
We would like to remind all parents that for the safety of all children and following guidance from Chorley SSP, jewellery is not to be worn during PE. This includes earrings, bracelets and watches. All children will be asked to remove their jewellery at the start of every PE lesson. This will ensure their own safety during the lesson and the safety of others. If a child is unable to take out their own earrings, adults in school will not be able to do it for them. This will mean they will have to take another role in the lesson such as observing, coaching or officiating.
For this reason, if your child is not confident taking out earrings, please do not put them in on our PE days. This year, our PE lessons are on Monday and Friday, however we may also have extra lessons on other days throughout the year.
Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.

Children will be dismissed one at a time. Please let the adult on the gate know who you are picking up and they will then call the child.
