Reception Blog 5th September 2025

Date: 3rd Sep 2025 @ 8:21am

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our first Reception blog of the new academic year!

The children have all been amazing and have tried hard to settle into the new routines. They have worked hard and have enjoyed exploring their new learning environment both inside and outside!

Well done Reception superstars!

Thankyou to all of the children who made and have brought in their mini me! They have really enjoyed playing with them and placing them into our 'Self Registration House' each morning!

There is still time to bring yours in if you want to!

Headteacher Award:

Well done to Rohan L, Louis B, Theo and Barney. After learning about the story of Noah's Ark they worked together to build an Ark using the wooden bricks in our outdoor learning area! Great work boys!

Baseline Assessment

Now that the children have had their first 4 days at school and are settling into the routines I have begun to complete the baseline activities with them. Please find a document explaining more about this in the files section at the bottom of the page. Any questions please ask.

Phonic Meeting

Our Phonic meeting will be held on Monay 15th September at 5.30pm in the Reception classroom. This will be an opportunity for me to share with you how we will be teaching Phonics to your child and what you can do to help them at home.

Show and Tell

As part of our topic work next week we are learning all about ourselves. Please could you send in a family photograph (this can be sent via Seesaw if you would prefer). The children can then show their friends and tell us about who is in their family.

Jofli Bear

Our class bear is called Jofli (Journey Of Life) Bear. He chooses to come home with a child each weekend to share adventures. He will come home with his ruck sack containing his pyjamas, toothbrush, a brush for his fur and his journal for you to write about what he has done and draw a picture. If your child brings him home please return him to school on the following Monday so we can share the adventures he has had!

Reminders

  • Please ensure all items your child brings into school are clearly labelled with their name including water bottles, coats and shoes.

  • Could we ask that water bottles are carried into school and not put into reading bags as we have had a few leaks already!

  • We have toast and milk every morning and provide a fruit snack every afternoon. If you want to send in one healthy snack this can be eaten instead of fruit in the afternoon.

  • Please send in a named coat each day as the weather is so changable!

  • Could each child bring in a named pair of wellies as outdoor provision is a big part of our curriculum and we try to access the outdoors in most weathers.

  • We have sent out a QR code for each family to access 'Seesaw'. If anybody has any questions please as

  • Before and After School Club:

  • OSC Payments
Payments for Breakfast Club and After School Club are through ParentPay.  Miss Croft in the school office manages payments so any queries relating to this can be sent to [email protected].  If you are paying for OSC with childcare vouchers,  please let Miss Croft know and a screenshot of the voucher is to be sent to her so that she can credit your ParentPay account.  Otherwise it can take a while for the payment to reach us via Lancashire County Council.  Please keep your PP accounts in credit for OSC also and all balances must be paid at the end of each term.
  • Use of the School Drive
Please remember that, for no other reason than safety, we do not allow cars to use the school drive up to 9:15am or after 3:00pm. If you are collecting from after school club you may drive up after 4:45pm. There are two church car parks you can use, as well as a kind offer from Papa Luigi’s too (although not to be used on a Monday afternoon or if there are school events in the evenings). Please remain considerate when parking in any residential or business areas too, ensuring that driveways are unblocked and accessible to residents. We really do value your support with this, thank you.

  • Please inform after school club if your child will not be attending by lunchtime.

  • Please ring on 07730777136 when you are on your way to pick up so they can be ready.

Have a lovely weekend!

Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford
