Dear parents,
Welcome to the Reception Friday blog!
![]() |
Please see the class page for the Summer 2 Curriculum overview.
Literacy:
We have enjoyed reading our new book.
|
The children have worked independently to show their phonic and tricky word knowledge by writing labels and sentences
Maths:
We have enjoyed exploring the Rekenreks and have used them to show our knowledge of numbers partners to 5 and 10.
Road Safety:
During last half term we took part in the Right Start Child Pedestrian Road Safety Programme.
We covered:
The need to keep hold of a grown-up's hand
The importance of always being accompanied by an adult when out near roads.
Places to play away from traffic
Why and where we stop and wait before crossing
The need to look and listen before crossing
Behaviour when crossing - Hold hands, Walk, Don't run
This week we went out in groups to apply our learning and have all received a certificate to show we have completed Stage 1.
Phonics Homework
Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound.
Show and Tell
The children can bring in a picture (or send via Seesaw) of their chive plant from our trip to 'Bring Yer Wellies'.
Reading Books
As we are now in the Summer term please can you try and spend a little time every night to listen to your child reading their reading book. This will really help them consolidate their phonic knowledge and practise recognising and reading tricky words. We change the reading books every Monday and Thursday.
Library Books
Library books will be coming home tonight.
Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.
Reminders
- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
- Please help your child to be as independent as possible when getting dressed/undressed for PE.
- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named.
- If your child needs to use lip balm could you please send it in in a named bag for the teachers to look after and oversee them putting it on.
- When the weather is hot please apply sun cream before school. Each child has a school sun hat and we continue to encourage them to drink lots of water.
