Reception Blog 9th October 2026
Date: 6th Oct 2026 @ 11:58am
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Reception Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, reminders and lots more!
Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning.
Literacy:This week we have continued looking at the story of Little Red Hen.
|
|
We have also sequenced the story by cutting and sticking the pictures. |
Maths:
We have been focusing on number 3 this week. We know that 2 and 1 more makes 3, and comes after number 2 when we are counting. We have made number 3 in 'Numberland' and found ways to represent number 3.
Phonics
Homework
Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. We are also looking carefully at forming our letters correctly in class. Please remind your child to say the rhyme for each letter to help them when they are writing at home.

We have sent home a book for each child with their named reading record in a clear reading pack. Please share this with your child and talk about the pictures and what could happen in the the story. Please sign the reading record book and share any comments for us to read. Please send the Reading Pack in each day and we will change the books on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Autumn Cafe
The children have enjoyed using our Autumn Cafe in the mud kitchen this week.
They have taken their friends order then made some delicious treats!

PE
Well done to all the children who have been practising getting dressed! We can see lots of progress from last week!
Our Year 6 Buddies joined us to do PE today.
Show and Tell
Now the weather is changing and we are wearing our coats more. This week can the children practise putting on and fastening their own coats!
Pictures or even videos can be sent in to share with their friends.
Autumn Walk
Next Tuesday morning we are going on an Autumn Walk to Ransnap Woods.
Please can you make sure your child has named wellies in school and brings a coat!
Jofli is an important member of our class and we sing his song each week on Friday afternoon before he chooses who he will go home with.
