Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Reception Friday blog!

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, reminders and lots more!

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning.

Literacy:

This week we have continued looking at the story of Little Red Hen.

We have been sequencing the story and talking about the characters. We have answered some comprehension questions, in our groups.

Read It Yourself: Little Red Hen - Level 1

Maths:

We have been focusing on number 2 this week. We know that 1 and 1 makes 2, and comes after number 1 when we are counting. We have made number 2 in 'Numberland' and found ways to represent number 2.

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog.  Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. We are also looking carefully at forming our letters correctly in class. Please remind your child to say the rhyme for each letter to help them when they are writing at home.

We have sent home a discussion book for each child with their named reading record in a clear reading pack. Please share this with your child and talk about the pictures and what  could happen in the the story. Please sign the reading record book and share any comments for us to read. Please send the Reading Pack in each day and we will change the books on Tuesdays and Fridays.

As we begin to learn the Phase 2 sounds we will introduce books with decodable words for the children to practise reading.

PE

We all tried to get changed for our PE session today!

We showed the children how to take their t shirts, jumpers, skirts and trousers off and how to put them the right way round ready for when they put them back on.

We will continue practising these skills in school but would really appreciate your help encouraging this increased independence at home.

Show and Tell

Please can the children practise the correct letter formation of the graphemes we have learnt so far. These can be found in the files section below.

We have completed week one and week two. The children can bring it in or send a picture on Seesaw.

Jofli is an important member of our class and we sing his song each week on Friday afternoon before he chooses who he will go home with.

Reminders.

- Please help your child to be as independent as possible when putting their coats on and getting dressed/undressed for PE.

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named.
