Y6 Friday Blog - The End is Nigh

Y6 Production
After weeks of practice, we are done - the pirates of the Curry Bean have disembarked!
I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better. Y6 acted fantastically. They sang their hearts out. They remembered all their lines (and there were a lot of lines!) and, most importantly, nobody fell off the stage!
Parents laughed. Children found an unexpected enthusiasm for the stage. Solos were bellowed out with confidence. I remembered the correct order of all the music. All the props were in the correct place, as the correct time. And, thank goodness, the giant granny-knickers never have to be seen again!
If I could do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing!
Coming Up
Here we go, into the last week of primary school for all of Year 6!
Monday - Dare I say it... Nothing planned as of yet! We will have a thoroughly relaxing day. The weather is supposed to be glorious, so we will be out on the field, playing rounders, playing football and having a well deserved rest. (Maybe we will squeeze in a little Leavers' Service practice too!)
Tuesday - We are off to church in the morning for an official practice. The Leavers' Service starts at 2pm at church (embarrasing photos will be on a loop and ready for a giggle!). And, to top off an already tiring day, the Leavers' Disco will be starting at 6pm, lasting for an hour.
Wednesday - Staff Vs Y6 rounders will be on the field at 12:30! I am not going to lie - I don't fancy teachers' chances, as Y6 look far too skilled up! A pizza party will follow, in class, or out on the field depending on the heat!
Thursday - Y6 Leavers' Lunch will be in the hall, the rest of the school ready to clap Y6 into the hall. After that, a water fight on the field (I have already bought myself 2 brand-new water guns online - I am ready!).
Friday - Shirt signing, and importantly, enjoying their last day of primary school!
Safeguarding - morning routine
If you are dropping off your child at the classroom door / KS2 entrance door and need to pass a message on to a member of staff please do so by speaking to the staff member who monitors the door in the morning. If you need to enter school for any other reason, adults can only enter the school building via the main school entrance and seek assistance from the school office team. If you are attending a meeting with a member of staff, you must sign in at the front desk as a visitor and have an ID lanyard.
Safeguarding - home time routine
At the end of each day, Y6 will line up on the playground football pitch. Each child will be dismissed individually, only when a member of staff has seen the adult who is collecting. If they are signed up for OSC, the children will need to be collected from the front office, so OSC can sign in, and sign out, the children they are expecting.
If you need to speak with the class teacher at the end of the day, please allow them to dismiss the class first.

Safety in PE
We would like to remind all parents that for the safety of all children and following guidance from Chorley SSP, jewellery is not to be worn during PE. This includes earrings, bracelets and watches. All children will be asked to remove their jewellery at the start of every PE lesson. This will ensure their own safety during the lesson and the safety of others. If a child is unable to take out their own earrings, adults in school will not be able to do it for them. This will mean they will have to take another role in the lesson such as observing, coaching or officiating.
For this reason, if your child is not confident taking out earrings, please do not put them in on our PE days. This year, our PE lessons are on Tuesday and Friday, however we may also have extra lessons on other days throughout the year.
