Welcome back to the Year 1 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, our weekly spellings, reminders and lots more!
Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework.
Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school.
The children have been phonics superstars this week when completing their Phonics Screening Check. Results will be shared on the end of year reports.
On Monday, it is our trip to the Fireground Museum. The children can wear their own suitable trousers and footwear along with their school t-shirt, jumper or cardigan. Book bags, snacks and water bottles are not needed. Please send packed lunches in a disposable bag to allow for easier transport. We have looked at pictures of the Fireground and can't wait to go!
Reading books will continue to be changed on a Thursday. Please read both books and ask questions about them.
Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
The children will have the opportunity to change their library books each Thursday. Please spend time sharing these stories at home and asking about their choices.
Spellings
Please practise your spellings ready for the quiz on Thursday. These are also available on spelling frame.
English
In English we have been comparing fiction and non-fiction texts. We worked with a partner to label an information text before writing our own facts about plants.
Maths
In Maths we have been using part part wholes to solve addition and subtraction questions.
