Welcome to the Year 1 Friday blog!

Class Trip

Monday is our trip to Fireground. It will be a fantastic day learning all about fighting fires and the Great Fire of London. 

 

Congratulations to all the children for completing their phonics check. 

Spellings

Spellings for the rest of the half term will be on Year 1 Common Exception Words. We will quiz the children on 10 random words each week to help consolidate their learning. We will also put 2 of the words into a sentence for the children to write. 

 

English

There was a new arrival in Year 1 this week. Hopefully we will find out more about her next week!

Maths

Next week we are learning about fractions.

Which one is a half and which one is a quarter?

Reading

Please read every night with your child. This will help them with their learning throughout the curriculum

 

SHOW AND TELL

Show and Tell will continue on a Friday. If your child is bringing something to share, please practise what they are wanting to say at home. This will help build their confidence and oracy skills when speaking in front of others.
