Year 1 Friday Blog - 18th September

Reading books will continue to be changed on a Thursday. Please read both books and ask questions about them. 

Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read. 

Spellings

Well done to all the children for their first spelling quiz!

Please practise your spellings ready for the next quiz on Thursday. 

English

This week we have been adding labels to pictures of animals. We also listened to our new story...

Maths

Maths has been all about counting and number formation. Next week we will be learning about teen numbers and numbers up to 30. We will be working out how many tens and how many ones are in each number.

Geography

This week we looked at an aerial map of our school and labeled what we could see. We then drew our own maps of the playground.

 

PE

In PE we have been practising our jumping skills. We remembered to bend our knees and swing our arms to help us jump further.

Show and Tell

Show and Tell will take place on a Friday. Next week we are asking for the children to share something from their summer holidays. I look forward to hearing all about it!
