Dear parents,

Welcome back to the Year 1 Friday blog!

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, our weekly spellings, reminders and lots more!

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework.
Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school.

Reading books will continue to be changed on a Thursday. Please read both books and ask questions about them.

Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.

The children will have the opportunity to change their library books each Thursday. Please spend time sharing these stories at home and asking about their choices.

Spellings

Please practise your spellings ready for the quiz on Thursday. These are also available on spelling frame.

Our learning .jpeg

In Maths we have consolidating our learning about 3D shapes.

In English we have contined learning about Bernard. The children have done some fantastic writing about the main characters and main events in the story. Next week we will be retelling the story before creating our own about Bernard losing his arm!

Science this week has been all about plants again but this time we were looking at the structure of a tree. The children worked in pairs to create their own tree out of natural resources and then labelled them.

In Geography we have been learning about hot and cold areas of the world. We created a climate map and then sorted the animals based on our knowledge.

RE

Next week, we will be visiting Euxton Parish Church to learn about Baptisms. If your child has been baptised or had a special celebration, please could you email a picture to Mrs Hodges ([email protected]) or send in a copy. We will share these during our RE lessons over the half term. Thank you for those that have been received so far.

Have a lovely extended weekend,

from the Year 1 team
