Dear parents,

Welcome to the Year 1 Friday blog!

Thank you to those who attended the Phonics Screening check information meeting this afternoon. I have attached a copy of the powerpoint in the files section of the blog.

 

English

In English this week we have been learning about the suffix -ing and the suffix-ed. We have also been working hard on our reading skills in phonics.

Maths

In Maths we have been looking at number patterns when you count in 2s.

Science

In Science we went to look for signs of spring around school. 

PE

RE

In RE we learnt a song about 'Creator God' before painting pictures of God's beautiful world. 

 

Reading

Please read every night with your child. This will help them with their learning throughout the curriculum

Spellings

To help practise their weekly spellings, the children now have access to spelling frame. This is an online platform used throughout school with interactive games and spellings tests for the children to use. I am able to see how the children are performing throughout the week and there is a leader board to keep track of their points. Please click on the image below for a shortcut to Spelling Frame.

We will continue to quiz the children each Thursday.

Our focus this half term is tricky words. Please see our class page for the half termly overview and additional sentences. 

SHOW AND TELL

Show and Tell will continue on a Friday. If your child is bringing something to share, please practise what they are wanting to say at home. This will help build their confidence and oracy skills when speaking in front of others.
