Year 1 Friday Blog - 3rd July
Date: 3rd Jul 2026 @ 5:55pm

Dear parents,
Welcome back to the Year 1 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, our weekly spellings, reminders and lots more!
Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework.
Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school.

Well done to all the children for a fantastic sports day! They showed great determination and team spirit.

Reading books will be sent home on Monday for the last time. We will collect reading and library books back in on Friday to ensure they are all ready for the new school.
Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
Spellings
Please practise your spellings ready for the quiz on Thursday. These are also available on spelling frame.

English
This week we have been writing a recount of the bus journey. The children used information from the book and then chose their own places for the bus to visit.

Geography
In Geography we have continued to learn about human and physical features. This week we have been looking at the seaside.
History
In History we have found out why Amelia Earhart is a special person.
Well done to all the children who auditioned for the EuXton Factor. Our top two acts going through to the show are Miller and Harry telling jokes and a dance from Jessica and Myla. Congratulations!

If you are missing a jumper or a cardigan please let us know as we have a collection in the classroom. Unfortuantely they do not have names inside so we have been unable to send them home.
