Challenge

This week, we have been learning about nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs and how they make our writing more interesting.
We explored nouns (naming words) and verbs (action words) before using adjectives to add detail and adverbs to describe how actions are carried out. Through games, discussions, and sentence-building activities, we practised identifying these word types and using them in our own writing.
We are becoming more confident at choosing exciting vocabulary to create clear, descriptive sentences.

This week, we have been learning how to identify where numbers belong on a number line. We practised working out the scale and using this to place numbers accurately. We also explored vertical, horizontal and circular scales, thinking carefully about the intervals between each number. By reading each scale carefully and applying our mathematical reasoning, we became more confident at interpreting different types of number lines.

This week, we have been learning about the Ascension of Jesus. We explored a range of artwork showing this important event and discussed how different artists chose to represent the story. We looked carefully at each piece of art, sharing what we noticed and how the images made us feel. We then talked about what we thought was the most important part of the Ascension story and considered why Christians believe Jesus returning to Heaven gives them hope and reminds them that He is always with them. We enjoyed listening to each other's ideas and thinking about how art can help us understand and reflect on important Bible stories.

Please note that reading books will now be changed on a Wednesday. Two books are given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
Please ask your child not to bring their own reading books in from home. They are given the opprtunity to select a reading book from our class bookcase. Thank you for your support.
Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence. Please try to read with your child every night.

The children will have the opportunity to change their library books each Tuesday. Please spend time sharing these stories at home and asking about their choices.
