The children have all been very excited to start our new topic on Paddington. Having brought their own special teddy bears to school on Monday, the children made a list of adjectives focusing on personality (if you wrote a story about your bear, would it be kind/evil etc?), as well as appearance. Following a similar format, the children went on to write descriptions of Paddington Bear. They also used  subordination for time (using when, before and after) when writing about what Paddington could see and hear at the train station.

In our maths lessons this week, we have been focusing on the topic of Number and Place Value. The children have ordered three 2-digit numbers from least to greatest, and vice versa. We looked at the tens column first. If the digits in the tens column were of the same value, we then looked at the ones column.

We started our topic of Jesus Welcomes Everyone. We discussed who are friends are and why they are our friends. We then looked at the following images:

Christ with the Children – Christopher Santer

Christ Blessing the children – Nicholas Maes

Children coming to Jesus – John Lautermilch.

With talk partners, we discussed which of the above truly reflect Jesus’ actions and teaching.

HOMEWORK

Reading

Please try to read with your child every night. Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence.

Please note that reading books are changed on a Tuesday and two books are given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
