Dear Parents,
We have all enjoyed our last week of Autumn Term 1!
-
The children had great fun in their session with Fitness Freddie on Tuesday afternoon.
-
They were very proud to show their work to our visitors during the open morning on Wednesday.
-
The excitement about the school disco has kept the children going all week.

We have been focusing on explanation texts in our English lessons this week. The children have studied examplar texts and have gone on to plan their own explanation text. They followed a given structure (with sections for a heading, subheadings, introduction, paragraphs and a conclusion). We linked this to our science lesson on healthy eating.

This week in Maths, we have been looking at doubling. We learned how to use a model to partition numbers into tens and ones to help us with the doubling process. We then moved on to look at arrays and work out multiplication sentences to match various arrays.

In our RE lesson, we discussed all we have learned about the Bible over the half-term period. The children impressed me with their knowledge of the Old and New Testament. They were also able to retell many Bible stories to their friends in class.

The children have been learning how to add images to cells in our computing lesson. We added images of coins, base 10 equipment and counters, and carried out mathematical calculations.
HOMEWORK
Reading
Please try to read with your child over the half-term period. Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence.

Weekly Spellings
There will be no spelling quiz on the first Thursday back after half term. A new spelling overview will be given out during the first week of Autumn Term 2.
Should your child wish to revise any spellings over the holiday period, an overview for Autumn Term 1 can be found in the files to download section.
Please click on the image below to access Spellingframe.
Our Times Tables quizzes will start in Autumn Term 2. Please see the following websites to support learning in maths.

Thank you all for your support throughout the half term period. Have a lovely break.
