Dear Parents,
The children thoroughly enjoyed Break the Rules Day on Wednesday. Plenty of snacks were eaten, and lots of teddies were cuddled on the carpet.
CHALLENGE

The children all loved watching the bathroom scene from the Paddington film. We made comparisons between the film clip and the matching extract from the book. Following a class discussion, the children then wrote a paragraph outlining the similarities and differences (focusing on the use of the conjunction but).

In our maths lessons this week, we have continued to focus on the topic of Number and Place Value. The children have been rounding numbers to the nearest multiple of 10. We used the vocabulary 'nearest multiple of 10' (rather than rounding up or down). The children learned that mathematicians round to the next multiple of 10 when a number is halfway between two multiples of 10 (for example, we round 45 to 50).

Within our topic of Jesus Welcomes Everyone, we watched a video of The Thankful Leper ( The Ten Lepers- Luke 17:11-19). We discussed how we could retell the story using drama. The children thought about how movement and facial expressions could be used to interpret the hurt and rejection felt by the lepers. We then discussed how changing these expressions could reflect the new feelings of the people after they were healed.
![]() In our Science lesson, we have been focusing on living things and their habitats. Having studied a number of pictures, the children went on to identify whether something is living, dead or has never been alive. Which have been put in the wrong place?

HOMEWORK
Reading
Please try to read with your child every night. Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence.
Please note that reading books are changed on a Tuesday and two books are given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
