PSHE- IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Last week, we read the Pantosaurus book as part of our learning about how we can keep ourselves safe. We talked about the importance of understanding our bodies, knowing what is and isn’t appropriate, and speaking to a trusted adult if something makes us feel uncomfortable or worried.
This week, during our PSHE lesson, we continued this important learning by discussing appropriate touch and reinforcing the message that everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable.
We are also looking forward to welcoming the NSPCC for a special worship, where they will further emphasise the importance of keeping ourselves safe and knowing who we can talk to if we need help.
We would really appreciate your support in reinforcing these important messages at home and encouraging your child to talk openly to you or another trusted adult if they ever feel worried or unsure about something.

Challenge

Keep practising your number bonds to 10 and 20 at home.
Why not have a go at Hit the Button and see how quickly you can recall your number bonds? Challenge yourself to beat your previous score and improve your speed.
Remember, the more you practise, the quicker and more confident you will become. Can you become a number bond superstar?

This week in our English lessons, we have been busy planning and writing our own information pages for our very own class book. We chose an animal to research (elephants, zebras or lions ) and found out lots of interesting facts about our chosen animal. We then used our research to help us plan and write an informative page.

This week in Maths, we have been learning how to add three single-digit numbers together. We have been using our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us find the answer quickly and efficiently.
We have been looking carefully at the numbers and spotting two numbers that make 10 first. We can then add the remaining number to 10 to find the total.
For example:
6 + 4 + 3
6 + 4 = 10
10 + 3 = 13
We are learning that knowing our number bonds really well can help us to solve calculations more quickly and explain our mathematical thinking.
Keep practising those number bonds!

This week in Science, we have been investigating which material would make the best jacket for a snowman to help stop him from melting! We made predictions and then tested a range of different materials, including foil, cotton wool, felt, paper and card. We also had a snowman with no jacket so that we could compare our results. We thought carefully about the properties of each material and considered which one might be the best insulator. We then observed what happened to our snowmen and compared the results.

Reading books will be changed on a Wednesday. Two books will be given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
*Please note that one reading book has been sent home this week. Two will be sent home from next Wednesday.
Please ask your child not to bring their own reading books in from home. They are given the opportunity to select a reading book from our class bookcase. Thank you for your support.
Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence. Please try to read with your child every night.

The children will have the opportunity to change their library books each week. Please spend time sharing these stories at home and asking about their choices.
