Dear Parents,
Welcome back! We hope you all had a relaxing break.
This half term, we are delighted to welcome Miss Killingbeck to our Year Two team. Mrs. Crosby will continue to work in Year Two. Mrs. Mearns and Mrs. Fairhurst will also be working as part of the team (on a part-time basis).
The children have all settled back into school and have been working hard all week. They have been very enthusiastic in their learning journey throughout Multifaith Week. In Year Two, we have been learning all about Buddhism.
Please see the gallery section for photographs of our week.
End of Day Dismissal Reminder
Please could we politely request that your child does not re-enter the classroom while we are seeing children out at the end of the day. If your child has forgotten something and needs to come back into school via the Year 2 door, we will be very happy to help once all children have been dismissed. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Next Week
As part of our English topic on Paddington, I have asked the children to bring a teddy bear into school on Monday 12th January. Please ensure that any teddy bears brought into school are not too large, as the children will need to keep them on their tables while they write descriptions. Thank you.
My Happy Mind
Throughout the school, children in each of the classes have all been extremely enthusiastic about learning how to use happy breathing to help with the regulation of emotions. We have been uisng the My Happy Mind website to learn all about our brain. As of 9.1.26, parents will now be able to access the website.
Passwords for parents to access the site can be found inside your child's reading record book.
CHALLENGE

Throughout the week, we have been completing our innovated stories of A Right Royal Disaster. During our English lessons, we have also been focusing on Buddhism. We have made cross-curricular links to our RE topic on Buddhism, re-writing the story of Buddhism, and also annotating given pictures of various artefacts found in Hindu Temples.

In our maths lessons this week, we have been focusing on the topic of time. The children have enjoyed using analogue clocks to show quarter past and quarter to the hour. Please continue to make telling the time a part of the daily routine for your child. Thank you in advance.

As mentioned above, as part of our Multifaith Week in school, we have been learning all about Buddhism. Throughout the week, we have focused on places of worship, the holy book, worship, how the religion started, as well as studying significant beliefs and key figures.
HOMEWORK
Reading
Please try to read with your child every night. Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence.
Please note that reading books are changed on a Tuesday and two books are given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
