Year 2 Friday Blog - 12.9.25

Dear Parents,

We have had a very exciting week! As well as having lots of fun in our lessons, the children were very keen to start their first French and music sessions. Mrs. Tattersall and Mr. Crane were so happy to be greeted by great enthusiasm from all of the children.

Chorley SSP came in on Monday afternoon to take a PE session with the Year 2 children. Everyone worked really hard and the children had a great session.

Our Meet the Teacher event will be on Thursday 18th September at 9am. I look forward to seeing you there! Powerpoint slides of the presentation will be added to the blog for those who are unable to attend the meeting.

Our learning this week in Year 2

This week, the children were all very excited to start our new text entitled The True Story of The Three Little pigs. At the beginning of the week,the children made predictions by studying the front cover, focusing on the title and illustrations. They then went on to enjoy some hot-seating activities, taking on the role of the wolf or the third little pig. This helped us to think about how the characters were feeling, as well as what they might have been thinking or saying.

We have been focusing on number and place value in maths this week. Having completed activities on place value to 50, we then moved on to place value to 100. As well as representing numbers using the base 10 equipment, we also looked at various other ways to represent a number.

We have been learning about The Last Supper and thinking about how important friendship was to Jesus. We created our own recipes for friendship and came up with some super ideas.

We have been studying paintings by Kandinsky. Having created a collage using circles and triangles in the style of Kandinsky, we then went on to recreate a painting used coloured pencils.

Reading - Please read every night. Answer a selection of questions about the thoughts, feelings and actions of any of the characters in your reading book.

Reading books will be changed every Tuesday. Each child will be given two books for the week ahead. Please ensure that reading books are brought into school every day. If a reading book needs to be changed, please write in the reading record book that your child has finished their book / read to the end. Thank you in advance.
