Dear Parents,

We have had a busy week doing our quizzes. The children have all worked extremely hard and have earned lots of team points. We have also had lots of fun looking at new history artefacts from the museum loan service. The children were amazed by how heavy the helmets and armour were in our Norman Artefacts treasure chest.

Art Week - 23rd - 27th June

Slide1.JPG

We are beginning an art project in school entitled 'Something Special'.  As part of this project, I introduced a place that is special to me and explained all the reasons why, going into lots of detail about how it makes me feel when I visit that place. I showed a picture of the daffodils that line the approach to my special place in Mumbles. I explained to the children that I would then paint my picture focusing on the daffodil, as that reminds me of my special place. The children then spent time privately thinking about their own 'something special'.  They each came up with their own ideas which will inspire a piece of artwork (sunsets, flowers, shells, beach balls etc.).

In order to support this art project, we ask that the children bring in a memento (this could be a photograph/picture) which represents their 'something special'.These are going to form the foundation of their artwork and it would help the children greatly if they could bring these to class next week. Thank you in advance.

Reading

The children have been super detectives in our English lessons this week. They have used their inference skills to answer questions from the text, using the evidence to support their answers.

Writing

We have been using our knowledge of imperative verbs and time conjunctions to plan and write a set of instructions about how to clean our teeth.

We have been learning about time in our maths lessons. Using small clocks to support our learning, we have been practising telling the time to five- minute intervals. Please keep practising at home with an analogue clock.

As part of our topic of Ascension and Pentecost, we watched a video about the story of Pentecost. The children asked lots of questions about this event. They also thought about what it would have been like to have been there and about how the disciples would have felt.

Please see the gallery to see some more photographs taken during our RE lesson.

As part of our topic on plants, we have been thinking about what plants need to stay healthy. In groups, we planned our own investigations and planted our seeds.
