Dear parents,

We have had a busy week learning lots of new skills and knowledge. As well as following our curriculum timetable,we have also  had great fun learning a new song for the VE Day Anniversary (that will be celebrated in school on 8th May). As outlined on the newsletter, all children are invited to wear something red, white or blue to school on that day.

English

In our English lessons, we have been developing and demonstrating our understanding of characters and events through role play and drama, drawing on language from the text. The children were also given the opportunity to ask and answer who, what, where, when, why, how questions, using microphones to interview their partner (Lila). Everyone also worked hard to make inferences about characters and events using evidence from the text e.g. what is the character thinking, saying and feeling?

We talked about holy places of worship in our RE lesson and discussed why the church is a special/holy place for Christians. The children were asked to draw all the people they know who go to church and make the drawings into a collage of a church-shaped building.
