We have started our new topic (stories from other cultures) with great enthusiasm. Based on the text shown above, we made predictions about what the main character, Lila, might say to the sky when she reached the highest mountain. Using our inference skills, everyone made valuable contributions to our class discussions. We also explained and discussed our understanding of the text, giving opinions and supporting with reasons (e.g. Lila felt sad because…). |

The children have been busy learning to tell the time to five minute intervals. Having used the clocks in the classroom to help us learn, we also looked at clocks that had been reflected in a mirror. The children worked out the times shown on the clocks by looking at the numbers and the hands carefully.
RE
In our RE lesson, we started our new topic about the church. Following a class discussion about places that are special to us, we then went on to answer the following questions:
What words would you use to describe your special place?
How do you feel when you are in your special place?
What do you do when you are in your special place?

GeographyWe were all very excited to start our new geography topic, comparing Euxton to Mikoroshoni (in Kenya). We looked at the location of both places, using Google Earth and Google Maps. The children then went on to label the human and physical features of both Euxton and Mikoroshoni on maps containing satellite images. Click on the link below to find out more about our partner school in Mikoroshoni.
