Year 2 Friday Blog- 28.11.25
Date: 25th Nov 2025 @ 6:42pm

Dear Parents,
The children really impressed us all with their confidence to stand at the front of the class and deliver their school council election speeches. Well done to everyone who took part. The audience also listened very carefully and encouraged their friends in a very mature manner. Everyone enjoyed posting their votes in the ballot box.

In English this week, we have been focusing on orally rehearsing our sentences before writing them. The children drew a story map to depict the six different parts of Bob’s day and then went on to discuss their maps with a talk partner. Using the story maps, we will go on to complete a planning grid for each part of Bob’s day.

In our maths lessons this week, we have been looking at capacity and volume. We have learning about millilitres and litres, as well as measuring and recording capacity. We have also started our topic of Money and have studied the value of coins.

We have been learning about binary trees in our computing lessons. With a partner, we sorted a set of avatar cards into a binary tree.
Please see our gallery to see pictures of us voting for the school councillors.
HOMEWORK
Reading
Please try to read with your child every night. Regular reading at home really helps to build comprehension skills, including inference (reading between the lines), as well as improving fluency and confidence.
Please note that reading books are changed on a Tuesday and two books are given to each child to read for the week. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. This allows for an easy change as we know if the book has been read.
