Year 2 Friday Blog- 3.10.25
Date: 30th Sep 2025 @ 3:22pm
Dear Parents,
We have all had a great time during Oracy Week. The children have been learning how to share their ideas/thoughts/knowledge with others. We have thought about each of the points shown below.
Please see our gallery for photographs of some of the oracy activities we have enjoyed.
Challenge
Look around for things (nouns) that could be described by the adjectives below.
The main focus throughout the week has been on the development of oracy skills.
As part of National Poetry Day, the children also learned how to recite and perform a play entitled Puddle by Edward van de Vendel. We enjoyed performing the poem to all of our friends in Reception and Year 1.
Our focus this week has been on addition and subtraction. The children have been using part- part- whole and bar models to solve missing number problems. They have also been learning how to add and subtract multiples of 10 to or from a 2- digit number. Throughout the week, we have also been looking at how to use facts about number bonds to 10 to help calculate number bonds to 100 (3+7=10, 30+70=100).
In our RE lesson this week, we thought about the importance of the Bible. The children were given the opportunity to share their favourite Bible stories with one another.
In our Geography lesson this week, we looked at how to create a key for a map. The maps and keys created were all very impressive!
