Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! We hope you all had a lovely half-term holiday. The children have come back full of positivity and have been working with great enthusiasm all week.
United Utilities
The children were all very excited to receive a free toilet roll from United Utilities this week. A big thank you to Explosive Erica, from the Mad Science team, for a super presentation on the importance of what and what not to put down the toilet or sink.
Clitheroe Castle Trip
We are all looking forward to our visit to Clitheroe Castle Museum on Monday 9th June. We will be travelling by coach, leaving school straight after registration. We aim to leave Clitheroe Castle Museum at 2.30pm and return to school before 3.30pm.The children will need to bring a packed lunch for the trip. If your child has a school dinner, a packed lunch will be provided. The staff at Clitheroe Castle Museum have kindly requested that we take all of our rubbish back to school (due to their recycling policy). Please send any packed lunches into school in a disposable bag with your child’s first name written clearly on it.
Children will be required to wear a school uniform jumper/cardigan and school polo top. Joggers/leggings can be worn with sensible footwear (trainers etc.).Children will also need to bring a waterproof jacket as some of the activities will be held outside. No pocket money will be needed.

We have also been learning about fractions, recognising and naming one third as any one of three equal parts of a shape or object.

We started our new topic of Ascension and Pentecost by thinking about and discussing the feelings associated with saying goodbye to people. The children gave some super answers as to how goodbye can be communicated in many ways. Having studied the story of the Ascension, we discussed the fact that Jesus was in fact saying goodbye to his close friends.
