Dear Parents,
We have had a great week in Year 2. We enjoyed welcoming people into our classroom for the open morning on Tuesday. We also enjoyed discussing the 500 words writing competition that is now open to entries. Please see the following link for more details:

Officers from the Fire Service visited the Year 2 and Year 6 classes on Monday afternoon. Please see our gallery for some photographs of the visit.
Challenge
Find a variety of objects in your house. Think about which of the following measuring tools you would use for each one.
We were all very excited to start our new text entitled The Tale of Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter.
At the beginning of the week, the children studied a variety of pictures taken from the text. Working with a talk partner, they used a question hand to pose questions about the pictures and words. Having listened to the story of Peter Rabbit, all of the children then went on to write a sentence for each of the pictures.
We have had lots of fun measuring a variety of objects using a selection of measuring tools. As well as using rulers to measure in centimetres and metres, we have also studied 1 kg weights and thought of objects that have a mass of less than, greater than or equal to a 1kg weight.
In our RE lesson this week, we composed a list of questions about the Bible. During the term, we will pose the questions to Rev. Jo and find out the answers to our interesting questions.
In our science lessons, we have been learning about the stages of the human life cycle. The children all worked hard to label each stage of life and added information as to what people may do at each particular stage (e.g. toddlers learn how to walk etc.).
HOMEWORK
Reading
Thank you for reading with your child every night. It has such a huge impact on their reading and writing development. Please continue to ask them questions about the characters, events and the plot. This greatly helps with the development of their inference skills.
