Year 3 Friday Blog - 18th October 2024
Date: 18th Oct 2024 @ 8:26am
Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 3 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings and times tables and lots more.
Congratulations to Year 3 on making it through your first half term in the juniors. We hope you have enjoyed the start of your year and we are looking forward to teaching you even more after the break.
Homework
There will be no homework set over half term, however we continue to encourage every child to access Spelling frame and Times Tables Rockstars as much as possible over the break.
We also encourage every child to read every day whilst they are off school, and please remember to ask your child questions about what they are reading.
Times Tables Rock Stars Update
Some children have been struggling to log into times tables rock stars at home. We believe this may be due to them using an out of date version of the website. If you have this issue at home, please visit play.ttrockstars.com/reset to load the latest version in your device's browser. Otherwise, please update the Times Tables Rock Stars app from the app store.
Our learning this week in Year 3
English
This week, we have been looking at poetry in English. We have read two poems by Michael Rosen, which the children have all thoroughly enjoyed. We have recognised the different features used in these poems as well as performing them ourselves using expression.
Maths
In Maths, we have moved on from column addition to column subtraction. The children have worked really hard to solve lots of subtraction questions using base 10 to help them and then having a go at using the column method without base 10.
PE
In our last two PE lessons of the half term, we have played two different versions of invasion games, in which the attacking team had to get a ball in to a hoop without the defender touching it. We saw lots of good movement and teamwork from the attacking teams as well as some excellent defending.
