Homework
Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Remember to ask questions as this will improve key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference. Children should also have their school reading books in school every day so that an adult can read with them.
Spellings - Although there are no spellings to learn over half term, SpellingFrame still has lots of useful games to play. Have a look at the Year 3/4 spelling rules and learn some of the words on there by playing the different games.

Times tables - There are no times tables to learn over half term, but times table rockstars is really helpful for keeping the times table facts in your mind so you are ready to continue with your learning when we come back to school.

Our learning this week in Year 3
English
This week in English, we have been learning about explanation texts. On Monday, we read an explanation text and spotted some of its features. On Tuesday, we planned our own explanation texts about plants, and on Wednesday, we had a go at writing the first two paragraphs of our own explanation texts.

Maths
This week, we have been learning about shapes. We started by recapping what we knew about angles on Monday. On Tuesday, we had a go at drawing shapes with different properties, and on Wednesday, we were measuring perimeter.
Can you work out the perimeter of this equilateral triangle?
PE
This week, we were very lucky to have Freddy Fit in school for a fun fitness session. Everybody took part and had lots of fun!
Check out our gallery for lots more photos.
Water Walk
Well done to our water warriors for taking part in our water walk this week. We have raised an incredible amount of money for water aid, who we have learned about in class.
They aim to provide everyone, everywhere with:
Clean water
Decent toilets
Good hygiene
With our fundraising, we are helping them to do that.
Thank you to our school councillors for your help in organising the event.
