Welcome to our weekly blog where you will find out about what we have been doing in class, homework and important updates. 

 

 

A huge well done to our awards winners this week!

Literacy kicks 

This week, the children completed their final Literacy Kicks session. We would like to say a huge thank you to Gareth for the amazing sessions he has delivered, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed. It has been wonderful to see the progress they have made over the past six weeks.

Homework 

This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday.  Please do encourage your child to log on and practice these words. 

Reading 

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently.  Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record. 

Times tables 

Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables. 

Maths 

In math's, we have continued our topic on division. The children had to apply their knowledge to answer division questions including remainders. The children showed incredible resiliance with this and worked so hard to answer the questions. We were so impressed with how well the children did with this. 

Science 

In Science this week we have been exploring the movement of the planets. The children enjoyed recapping their knowledge on the planets and exploring the different year lengths. Thank you again to all the parents, grandparents and friends who attended the science showcase we have been blown away by the amazing efforts that the children put in to create their Space pieces. Thank you for all your hard work in making this such a successful project. Below are a few images from Thursday, we will be posting more onto the school social media page on Monday. 

DT

This week , Year 5 have began to make their own stockings based on a specific design criteria. The children have explored existing stocking designs and have looked at the features of a stocking to design their own. We then looked at the different stitches and the children have been focussing on the blanket stich and the running stich. I am certain that the stockings are going to be amazing.
