As part of our homework this week, we thought it would be beneficial for the children to focus on who they can turn to for help if they need support.

Talk to someone you can trust, such as your parents or carers, a grandparent, a teacher, a teaching assistant, or another known and trusted adult.

Please see the Colour Your Feelings activity in the files to download section. Choose one of the sheets and once completed, perhaps you would like to chat to a trusted adult about your activity.

Spellings

This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday.

Reading

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and we will change it for them.

Times tables

Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English

This week we have continued our work on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We explored different mythical creatures and created our own which we are going to be writing a non-chronological report all about.

Maths

This week we have continued our work on addition and subtraction using our reasoning and problem-solving skills to answer questions based on the answers we have got. We also started our new topic on statistics, looking at different types of data to analyse and answer questions.

History

In History this week we have continued our learning on Ancient Greece, focussing on the different Gods and Goddesses. We researched the different Gods and then explore the keys facts about Zeus and Athena. Finally, we got the chance to create our own God or Goddess.

Reminders

Safety in PE

We would like to remind all parents that for the safety of all children and following guidance from Chorley SSP, jewellery is not to be worn during PE. This includes earrings, bracelets and watches. All children will be asked to remove their jewellery at the start of every PE lesson. This will ensure their own safety during the lesson and the safety of others. If a child is unable to take out their own earrings, adults in school will not be able to do it for them. This will mean they will have to take another role in the lesson such as observing, coaching or officiating.

For this reason, if your child is not confident taking out earrings, please do not put them in on our PE days. This year, our PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, however we may also have extra lessons on other days throughout the year.
