Children's Mental Health Week
The theme for this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is This is my Place. That means feeling like you’re part of something, such as your family, your school, your group of friends or a team. These happy moments help us feel connected, valued, and accepted. When we feel like we belong, we feel happy, safe, and ready to learn and play. It helps us grow strong in our minds and bodies, and it makes it easier to make friends, do well in school, and feel good about ourselves.
On Wednesday, we all came together to watch the Children’s Mental Health Week live assembly (affiliated with Picture News).

Multi faith trip
This week, Year 5 had the pleasure of going to 2 different places of worship. The first place we visited was the mosque. The children were incredible and asked some fantastic questions, the Imam was very impressed with the children's knowledge of Islam. We then went to Blackburn Cathedral where we explored Christianity and compared our knowledge to the religion of Islam. The children were again amazing and we were very proud of them all!
Spellings
There will be no spelling test the first week back at school, we will begin our test on week 2. Below is a list of the Year 5 and 6 statutory spelling list which are spellings the children should be using within their written work.
Reading
We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.
TT Rockstars
Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English
This week, the children have continued their work based on The boy at the back of the class. The children have been writing their own narratives based on the journey Ahmet took to reach the United Kingdom. They have included many of the different writing features we have been focusing on in class. We have been so proud of how hard the children have worked and the powerful emotion they have created within their writing.
Maths
The children have begun working on decimals. They have been identifying the value of each digit and then ordering decimals. The children then moved on to reasoning and problem-solving questions. Can you answer the question below?
Geography
This week, the children have completed their final lesson based on migration. We explored the push and pull factors for migration, the countries within Eastern Europe, and the benefits of people migrating to our country. Take a look at the amazing work the children have created!
