Dear Parents,

In our weekly blog  you will find out about what we have been doing in class, homework and important updates.

Well done to our award winners this week!

Reading

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently.  Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.

TT Rockstars

Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English

This week in English, we have continued our class study of The Explorer by Katherine Rundell. The children have written in role and explored what we already know about each of the characters, using evidence from the text to support their ideas. They then planned their own narratives inspired by the story and will complete their independent writing next week.

Maths

In Maths, our focus this week has been geometry. The children have been learning about coordinates, plotting points on a graph, and describing translations. We have used STEM sentences to help them remember key rules when working with graphs. The children have also tackled a range of reasoning and problem-solving questions to further develop their understanding of these concepts. Can you answer the question below?

RE

This week, we began our new RE topic focusing on women in the Old Testament. To introduce the unit, the children discussed women they already knew who were famous and talked about why they are important. We then spent time exploring the Bible to see if we could identify the names of any women mentioned in the Old Testament.
