Our class achievements
A huge well done to our award winners this week!
Homework
Spelling
Have a go at logging into spelling shed and completing the game , I am hoping this is now all working properly, however if you are still having problems please let me know and I will try my best to sort it for you.
Reading
Please encourage your child to read every night as we really do see the impact that this has on the children within their learning. Once your child has finished a book, they can bring them into school and they will be changed by an adult.
TT Rockstars
Times tables are key within all areas of maths, not just for multiplication. Please can you log on to TT Rockstars to continue working on all your times tables. If you are unable to log in please come and see me and I can sort this for you.
Our learning this week in Year 5
English
In English this week we have continued our work on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. We began this week by looking at how to edit and improve our writing. We used the visualiser in class to work together to improve our sentences. We then recapped our learning on fronted adverbials and created our own fronted adverbial sentences based on the images from the film version of our class text.
Maths
In Math's this week we have continued our work on place value. We looked at how to round numbers to the nearest 10,100 and 1,000. We can up with a set of instructions on how to remember the rules to do this. Can you answer one of our deeper learning questions on rounding?
RE
In Year 5 we have continued our work exploring the Bible. As a class we watched a video clip explaining how the Bible is used and what it contains. We then created a booklet based on these facts. Our final activity was to create a code of conduct on how the treat the Bible. We then shared our ideas with our peers. If your child has a Bible at home, please send in a picture of them reading it to the school office email and we will display these in class.
History
In our history lessons we have continued our work on Ancient Greece. We looked at what the Ancient Greeks have done for us and explored how these things are still used today. In our groups we looked at the key events during this historical time period and created our own timelines.
