Dear Parents,
Welcome to our weekly blog where you will find out about what we have been doing in class, homework and important updates.

Well done to our award winners who have worked extreamly hard this week
Homework
This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday. Please do encourage your child to log on and practice these words.
Reading
We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently. Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.
Times tables
Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English
This week in English, we have continued our work on The Boy at the Back of the Class. The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and have taken part in some very detailed discussions. They went on to create their own setting descriptions of Syria, using a wide range of descriptive writing features. We focused on using expanded noun phrases, similes and metaphors, and the language and vocabulary the children used truly blew us away!
Maths
This week, we have been focusing on multiplication. The children have been using a range of different multiplication methods to answer questions, and we discussed the purpose of using different strategies as well as the importance of finding the correct answer. There has been a real focus on multiplication facts, and we are strongly encouraging the children to continue working on recalling these.
Can you answer the deeper learning question below?
Geography
This week, we began our new unit all about migration. The children explored what migration is and created an information poster to share their understanding. They then looked at the different push and pull factors and created a booklet to explain these in more detail.
