Homework

Spelling

There will be no spelling test the first week back at school, we will begin our test on week 2. Below is a list of the Year 5 and 6 statutory spelling list which are spellings the children should be using within their written work.

Reading

All the children have had their reading book changed ready for the half term. We encourage the children to read as much as possible as we know the benefits of this within their written work.

Freddy Fit

This week Year 5 and Year 6 took part in a Freddy fit workshop where the children were introduced to circuit training. They had to complete different stations focussing on all muscle groups. The children worked so well as a team and displayed fantastic sportsmanship!

Maths

This week the children completed their unit on Angles. The children have been working so hard this topic to make sure they were able to use the protractor correctly. We completed a number of practical lessons to ensure we were confident at this before moving on. We have been so impressed with the resilience the children have shown with this topic! Well done everyone!!

Science

In science this week we have been looking at different states of matter. We discussed the difference between a solid and a liquid and how we can freeze a liquid and melt a solid. The children used the correct scientific vocabulary to explain this using a diagram.
