Reading

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently.  Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.

TT Rockstars

Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English

This week in English, we have been writing our own narrative stories inspired by our class text, The Explorer. The children have independently applied a wide range of skills from the Year 5 writing framework. They have worked extremely hard and produced some fantastic stories filled with detail and description.

Maths

This week in Maths, we have been learning about angles. The children have been using protractors to identify different angles and to draw their own accurately. We then explored angles around a point, using our addition skills to calculate and identify the missing angles.

Science

This half term in science, our topic has been forces. We have been learning the key vocabulary for this unit and discussing what each word means. We also carried out an investigation into friction, where we explored which surface created the most friction when testing a shoe. After collecting our results, we used the data to create a bar chart to show our findings.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine
