Dear Parents,
Welcome to our weekly blog where you will find out about what we have been doing in class, homework and important updates.
Well done to our award winners who have worked extreamly hard this week
Homework
This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday. Please do encourage your child to log on and practice these words.
Reading
We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently. Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.
Times tables
Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

English
In English this week, we have continued our work on The Boy at the Back of the Class. The children focused on the key characters, exploring what we know about them and their families. As a class, we then chose one family member to write about. It was so lovely to see the thoughtful and heartfelt things the children had to say about the important adults in their lives.
We have also continued developing our understanding of similes and metaphors, using songs to help us remember the key facts. Below is a link to the song so the children can practise at home.
Maths
In Maths this week, the children have completed their work on multiplication. It was lovely to see them grow in confidence and tackle some really tricky reasoning questions.
We then began our new topic on time. The children practised reading and writing different times, including o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. They also began reading the time in 5-minute intervals and matching analogue and digital clocks. Please encourage your children to read the time to you at home as often as possible, including times in 5-minute intervals, to help them practise and build confidence.
Science
In Science this week, we have been learning about the different stages of child development. The children discussed what they could remember about key milestones in their own lives and explored what a child is typically able to do at different ages and stages.
If possible, please could you send in any photos of your child as a baby, toddler or young child to add to our class display, helping us to show the different stages of development. These can be emailed to the school office at:
