Euxton Factor.png

This week, we held our Euxton Factor auditions, and the children were incredible. We were extremely proud of every child who took part and were amazed by the confidence, talent, and enthusiasm on display.

We are delighted to announce our three Year 5 finalists:

  • Akira
  • Ethan
  • Florence

Congratulations to all of our performers, and a special well done to our finalists.

Homework

This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday. Spellings 3rd July .jpg

Reading

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently.  Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.

TT Rockstars

Please encourage your child to access their TT Rockstars account and complete tasks and challenges on the website to practice their times tables.

Maths

This week in Maths, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction. We explored different strategies and discussed how to choose the most appropriate method to solve each calculation. We then applied our understanding to solve missing number problems, using our reasoning skills to work out the unknown values.

English

In English, we have continued exploring the text The Invention of Hugo Cabret. We started the week by comparing the book with clips from the film adaptation and discussing which version we preferred and why. The children shared their opinions thoughtfully, using evidence from both the book and the film to support their ideas.

We then looked at the key features of a newspaper report, as we are currently planning and writing our own newspaper articles based on events from the story. The children have enjoyed investigating the text and applying their knowledge of newspaper writing.
