A huge well done to our awards winners this week!

Christingle
This special service led by the children in Year 6 and Year 5. It will take place next Monday 8th December at 2pm in church and will include readings and carols. Two adults per Y5/Y6 child are welcome to join us. The service will last approximately 45 minutes. Children can be collected from church after the service or return to school as normal if attending after school club.  Please inform the office with end of day arrangements by emailing Miss Croft [email protected]. Thank you.

Christingle is a festive celebration that helps raise funds for The Children’s Society, a charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and young people across the UK. We will be collecting donations before and after our Christingle service. Every contribution, big or small, helps provide vital support to children who need it most. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us share hope this Christmas season!

Science Space project

This half term we are setting the children in year 5 a creative homework activity. The children are going to be creating a space themed masterpiece based on their learning within class. We are then going to show case these to all parents on Thursday 11th December at the end of the day in our school hall. It will be so lovely for every child to complete an activity based on Space.  The completed projects are to be brought into school from Monday 8th December. The children were very excited about this project and it will allow them to discuss their learning with parents at home as they create their homework. We are very much looking forward to seeing the work the children have created.

Homework

This week's spellings are listed below. There are activities assigned on Spelling Shed for your children to complete based on our new spellings. The children are tested weekly on a Thursday.  Please do encourage your child to log on and practice these words .

Reading

We ask the children to read as much as possible as there are huge benefits to this within all areas of the curriculum. Children can bring their book back into school any day and they are able to change them independently.  Could you please encourage your children to read as much as possible and record this in their reading record.

Maths

This week in maths we have been focussing on division. The children have been using the bus stop method to answer different questions using our multiplication knowledge to help us. Have a look at the question below, can you spot the mistakes?

English

In English this week the children have been creating their own newspaper report all about the John Glenn orbit around the Earth. The children explored this significant event and the impact that Katherine Johnson had on this. The children used their knowledge from their Literacy Kicks sessions which was amazing to see.

RE

In our RE session this week, the children looked at different Christmas carols and how they retell the nativity story. The children were shocked at how each carol representing the different elements of the nativity story. They were able to really explain what was happening at the different parts within the song.
