Dear parents
🐣 Enjoy the Easter Break! 🐰
🌷 As we hop into the Easter break, let’s take a moment to relax and recharge. This time of year is not just about chocolate eggs and fluffy bunnies; it’s also an opportunity to unwind and enjoy precious moments with family and friends.
Whether you’re out exploring the blooming parks, participating in an Easter egg hunt, or simply enjoying a good book in your comfy chair, make the most of these well-deserved days off. Remember, it’s all about creating wonderful memories!
🌼 Let's remind ourselves to cherish this break and return to school rejuvenated and ready to learn!
Happy Easter 🌈
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.
Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Question prompts are provided within reading records asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference.
Spellings - There will be NO SPELLINGS assigned during the Easter holiday! 🥳

Times tables - Please use the Times Tables Rock Stars website to practise the times tables. We will be revising all times tables in year 5 and further developing related division facts. Times tables test will take place each Friday.

I will be keeping track of all children logging into both Spelling Frame and TT Rockstars. I recommend 10 minutes, every night, on each of the websites.
Our learning this week in Year 5
Discovering Greece: Our Half-Term Spotlight 🌍
This half-term, we're excited to learn all about our spotlight country Greece! Each week, we’ll share a fun fact about this amazing country. Children may want to get involved at home. If you find out something interesting about Greece, bring that information into school. 🌊🏛️
🌟 Creative Writing Week in English! 📚✍️
What an exciting week it has been in English! The children have taken inspiration from the captivating class novel, The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, and have channeled their creativity into writing their own independent stories. 🌍✨
Not only have they crafted imaginative narratives filled with adventure, but they have also expressed their poetic flair by creating unique acrostic poems! 🌟
🧮 This Week in Maths: Solving Problems with Bar Models! 🌟
This week in maths, the children have been learning to solve problems with bar models! They’ve been working on missing number problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Using Bar Models
Bar models help children see how numbers relate to each other. They make it easier to work through problems and find missing values. This week, we also used bar models to understand fractions better!
Multiplication and Division Facts
Children have been practising their multiplication and division facts for tables 2 to 12. Knowing these facts helps them solve problems faster!
Place Value
We are also focusing on place value. Understanding place value is important for doing calculations and tackling more complex maths.
RE
This Week in RE: Exploring Salvation in Christianity! 🌟
This week in RE, the children delved into the concept of salvation within the Christian faith. They engaged thoughtfully with what salvation means and its significance in the lives of individuals and communities.
Through discussions, creative activities, and reflective writing, the children explored big questions such as:
- What does it mean to be saved?
- How does Christianity perceive salvation?
Safeguarding - morning routine
