Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more. 

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below. 
 
 
 

Reedley Primary School: Homework

Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Question prompts are provided within reading records asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference.

 

Spellings -  Please find this weeks spellings below, our spelling quiz will take place on Thursday 15th May. Every Thursday, the quiz will contain ten words from the spelling rule for tat week plus two words from previous year groups. The overview for Summer Term 1 can be found on our class page.

Times tables -  Please use the Times Tables Rock Stars website to practise the times tables. We will be revising all times tables in year 5 and further developing related division facts. Times tables test will take place each Friday.

I will be keeping track of all children logging into both Spelling Frame and TT Rockstars. I recommend 10 minutes, every night, on each of the websites.

Discovering : Our Half-Term Spotlight ๐ŸŒ

This half-term, we're excited to learn all about our spotlight country Bulgaria! Each week, we’ll share a fun fact about this amazing country. Children may want to get involved at home. If you find out something interesting about Bulgaria, bring that information into school. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

  • The rugged Balkan Mountains are known in Bulgaria as stara planina. This mountain range stretches over 560 km/ 350 miles from the western border with Serbia to the Black Sea coast in the east. 
  • The highest mountain in Bulgaria is Musala Peak, which is 2,925 m/ 9,596 ft high and is located in the Rila mountains.

This Week in English: Action and Imagination! โœ๏ธ

This week in English, the children have been writing exciting action scenes based on their inventions! It's wonderful to see their creativity shine as they explore storytelling. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

They've also started planning short stories to bring their inventions to life. Each child's unique ideas are all coming together, showcasing their joy and talent for writing.

This Week in Maths: Fun with Numbers! ๐Ÿ“โœจ

This week, the children have been busy exploring the world of place value! Here’s a quick look at what they have been learning:

๐Ÿงฎ Placing Decimals
The children have been placing multiples of one thousandth on a number line. It has been wonderful to see them grasp this concept!

๐Ÿ“ Rounding Decimals
They’ve also rounded decimal numbers to the nearest 1 and tenth, showcasing their growing confidence in working with numbers.

๐Ÿ”ข Multiplying and Dividing
Lastly, they have been multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100, and 1,000. The their enthusiasm was impressive!

A Week of Discovery: Our Trip to Jaame Mosque and Blackburn Cathedral ๐ŸŒโœจ

This week, the children took an exciting trip to Jaame Mosque and Blackburn Cathedral, exploring the different cultures and beliefs. ๐Ÿ™โœ๏ธ

During the visit, the children asked many thoughtful questions, eager to learn about the traditions and values of each place.

The Imฤmm at the mosque and the leaders at the cathedral praised the children for their great behaviour and interest. They enjoyed fun activities that encouraged teamwork and curiosity.

We are proud of the children for their enthusiasm and respect for others!

                                               Science

๐Ÿš€ This Week in Science: Exploring Forces! ๐ŸŒŸ

This week, the children have been learning about forces! ๐ŸŒŒ They investigated the effects of friction on moving objects through fun experiments. 

By conducting comparative and fair tests, the children explored how different surfaces change the way objects move. From smooth to rough, they discovered how friction affects everything we do! ๐Ÿ”

Their curiosity and teamwork shone brightly as they shared their findings and discussed how these concepts apply to real life. ๐Ÿงชโœจ

Support Services for Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding - morning routine

 
If you are dropping off your child at the classroom door / KS2 entrance door and need to pass a message on to a member of staff please do so by speaking to the staff member who monitors the door in the morning.
If you need to enter school for any other reason, adults can only enter the school building via the main school entrance and seek assistance from the school office team. If you are attending a meeting with a member of staff you must sign in at the front desk as a visitor and have an ID lanyard.
