This Week in Maths: 🔢
This week in maths, the children have been working on multiplication! 📚✨ They’ve been multiplying 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers using the grid method, a helpful way to tackle tricky calculations.
What We Did
💡 Picking Strategies: The children learned to choose different methods to solve multiplication problems. This helps them feel more confident in maths.
🔍 Checking Answers: To make sure their answers are correct, they practised estimation and used the inverse to check their work. This strengthens their understanding!
🧮 Real-Life Problems: The children solved multiplication problems while learning about factors, multiples, squares, and cubes. They are applying what they learn to everyday situations!
Why It Matters
Strong multiplication skills are essential for future maths and everyday life.
RE
This Week in RE: The Story of Daniel 📖✨This week in RE, the children explored the story of Daniel. 🌍✨ We started by discussing what they already knew about him. After reading Chapter 1 of the Book of Daniel, the children learned that Daniel and his friends were taken from Jerusalem to live in Babylon. They were strangers in a new land! We talked about how scary it must have been for them to leave home and not know anyone. As we listened to Chapter 2, the children found out how Daniel became important to the king by interpreting his dreams. 📜✨ This led to discussions about bravery and trust in difficult times. |
