Dear parents

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 5 BLOG GIF.gif

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below.

Reedley Primary School: Homework

Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. English This Week! 🎉📚

This week in English has been bursting with dedication as the children have been completing their quizzes. We are so proud of how hard everyone has worked! Well done for your effort and commitment! 👏👏

In addition to the quizzes, the children have also delved into the enchanting myth of King Midas. They explored the storyline, summarised it beautifully, and engaged in thoughtful discussions about the vital moral we can all learn from it. 💰

This Week in Maths 🎉✏️

What a fantastic week we’ve had in Maths! The children have been working hard on quizzes to show what they have learned. 🙌

This week, we focused on fractions. The children learned to identify equivalent fractions and place them on a number line. It’s wonderful to see them grow in confidence! 🧮

  • Equivalent Fractions: They discovered how different fractions can be equal.
  • Ordering on a Number Line: The children practiced placing fractions in order.

Art Week

Celebrating 'Something Special' 🌟

This week, the children have been busy working on a  project entitled 'Something Special.' 🖌️✨

Throughout the week, the children have engaged in lively discussions about the things and places that hold a special significance in their lives. From cherished family moments to favourite playgrounds, they've explored the emotions tied to these beloved items and locations. 🏞️❤️

The children then translated these feelings into sketches and crafted unique clay tiles that reflect their perspectives. It's been a joy to see their creativity come alive, showcasing their understanding of what makes these things truly special. 🎨

Join Mo’s Mission: Let’s get moving together!

This year, Youth Sport Trust are celebrating 30 years of  improving young people’s lives through sport and play. To mark this milestone, our National School Sport Champion, four-time Olympic Champion Sir Mo Farah CBE, has set an incredible challenge:

Together, let’s pledge 30,000,000 active minutes by the end of 2025!

 Sir Mo Farah said:

“Every young person deserves to grow up happy, healthy, and with the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Staying active for 60 minutes a day (or 20 minutes for SEND young people) is a big part of making this happen.

“Join me in Mo’s Mission and help inspire children across the UK to get moving. Together, we can create brighter futures and make a real difference to their health and wellbeing. Let’s do this - no MoBot until the mission is done!”

Please complete the weekly planner (in the files to download section). Each child (or parent of the younger children) can write how many active minutes they have achieved before, during and after school for the week commencing 30th June.

Support Services for Safeguarding Children

Safeguarding - morning routine

If you are dropping off your child at the classroom door / KS2 entrance door and need to pass a message on to a member of staff please do so by speaking to the staff member who monitors the door in the morning.
If you need to enter school for any other reason, adults can only enter the school building via the main school entrance and seek assistance from the school office team. If you are attending a meeting with a member of staff you must sign in at the front desk as a visitor and have an ID lanyard.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school and children safe.

🎤🌟 Darwin Rocks Performance! 🌟🎤

We are excited for the upcoming Darwin Rocks performance! Our children have been working hard and are ready to sing their hearts out.

For the performance, all children need to wear a black t-shirt. If your child has a black t-shirt with a logo or picture, that's fine! They can simply wear it inside out or back to front, so no need to buy a new one.
